Australia's newest commercial airline trims network, acknowledges low passenger demand

New Australian carrier, Bonza, is eliminating five routes from its network to improve its operational reliability and address a passenger demand shortfall. Read More » The LCC said Sunshine Coast-Coffs Harbour, Sunshine Coast-Port Macquarie, Sunshine Coast-Tamworth, Cairns-Mackay and Toowoomba Wellcamp-Whitsunday Coast will cease flying on August 1. Additionally, frequency will be reduced on several other Bonza routes.
Sunshine Coast-Albury, Sunshine Coast-Melbourne Avalon and Melbourne Tullamarine-Port Macquarie will each operate an extra flight a week as the carrier adjusts capacity. “The changes will allow us to build in additional spare capacity in our current fleet of four aircraft so we have a buffer when things don’t go to plan,” Bonza chief commercial officer, Carly Povey, said. “By focusing on routes that are performing very well, we are taking decisive action to go where demand is and, in turn, set up Bonza for the long haul.”
