Japan Airlines posts 15.4% year-on-year domestic passenger growth

Japan Airlines (JAL) flew 2.9 million passengers within Japan last month, up 15.4% from 2.5 million domestic travellers in the same month a year ago. Read More » Despite the strong year-on-year increase, the July figures were 3.4% below the 3 million domestic passengers JAL carried in June. JAL also recorded a third consecutive month-on-month decline in in country passengers for July. The oneworld alliance member's domestic passenger load factor was 73.1% for the 31 days, compared with 79.2% in June and 62.7% in July 2022. JAL's domestic operations for the reported month were 89.3% of the passengers it carried in pre-COVID July 2019. Capacity, or Available Seat Kilometres (ASKs), was 96.5% of the airline’s ASKs of four years ago.
