Australia’s domestic passengers increase by 1.4% in June

Australia's airlines flew 4.6 million passengers on scheduled domestic services in June, up from 4.5 million in the same month a year ago. Read More » Domestic passenger traffic has been stagnant for more than a year, with monthly passenger totals sitting between 4 million and 4.9 million since April 2022, latest figures from Australia's Bureau of Infrastructure, Transport and Research Economics (BITRE) show. Capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was 2.6% higher year-on-year, BITRE said. Compared with pre-COVID-19 activity, the June result was 97.5% of the 4.7 million domestic air travellers flown in June 2019 and ASKs were 99.4% of the same month in 2019.
