Akasa Air’s internal upgrade program has graduated its first pilots to qualify as captains. Read More » The Mumbai-headquartered airline, which began commercial flying in 2022, said first officer Shantanu Patil and first officer Rahul Sinha are the first pilots to successfully complete the training course and become commanders. “A first of many more to come, this momentous occasion is not just a tribute to the rigorous and disciplined training undertaken by our pilots, but demonstrates their dedication and resilience, integral characteristics for a career in aviation,” Akasa Air CEO, Vinay Dube, said. “In the next 12 months, we plan to upgrade 40–50 pilots to captains. Our goal is to build an aviation workforce fit for the future by offering sustainable, open and inclusive opportunities for anybody looking for a career in the industry.”
