Air New Zealand adds two years to the expiry date of passenger travel credits

Air New Zealand (Air NZ) has extended the validity of travel credits issued to customers during the pandemic. Read More » The updated arrangements offer the airline’s customers the option to book flights with their available credits for travel completed by December 31, 2026. Air NZ chief financial officer, Richard Thomson, said the airline had taken note of customer feedback when deciding to extend the travel credits. “So far, close to 85% of our customers with COVID credits have used them to book flights, but more than NZ$200 million (US$120 million) [in credits] remains. Given the amount, we believe this extension is the right thing to do to give customers more time.” It is the sixth time the Star Alliance member has pushed back the expiry date for customers holding travel credits for non-refundable fares cancelled during the pandemic. Customers with purchased refundable fares for flights impacted by COVID-19 who had contacted the airline have had their refunds processed, the airline said.
