SITA said Frankfurt Airport is the first airport in Europe to offer passenger biometric touch points, from check in to boarding, using the SITA Smart Path biometric solution.
Japan-headquartered engineering services provider, IHI Corporation, has downgraded its earnings forecast to a full-year loss of 90 billion yen (US$598 million), from a forecast net profit of 50 billion yen previously, due to the impact of additional inspections required for Pratt & Whitney PW1100G-JM geared turbofan engines. “With respect to the ongoing additional inspection program for shipped PW1100G-JM engines, IHI now expects there will be an average of 350 aircraft on the ground from 2024 to 2026 as a result of increased shop visits for several years going forward. The conglomerate holds approximately 15% in the aforementioned engine program and expects to incur costs related to compensation, additional maintenance and so forth,” IHI said.
