Oman Air trims Asia in radical route restructuring

Oman Air has shrunk its Asia network with the withdrawal of Colombo in Sri Lanka, Islamabad and Lahore in Pakistan and Chittagong in Bangladesh from its schedule. Read More » It also will reduce frequencies on several routes to improve financial performance. On a more positive note, the airline plans to commence Oman to Sialkot in Pakistan and boost frequencies to Lucknow and Thiruvananthapuram in India. The Muscat-headquartered carrier also will reschedule services to and from its home base “to better cater to the Omani market and serve key flows in and out of Oman”, offer greater convenience for direct passengers and maximise connection windows. “The airline is evaluating its strategy to adapt to changing market dynamics and identify additional opportunities,” Oman Air said.
