Air India has chosen Recaro Aircraft Seating to supply and install up to 22,000 premium economy and economy seats across its A350, 777 and 787 fleets to 2029.
Japan Airlines has signed a contract to migrate NetLine/Ops ++ MaintenanceControl to Lufthansa Systems’ Global Aviation Cloud.
SITA’s 2023 Air Transport IT Insights said airlines spent about US$34.5 billion on IT in calendar 2023, up from US$30 billion in 2022, and 78% of airlines anticipate increasing IT spend in 2024. “As we approach a full recovery of air passenger demand, with domestic travel surpassing pre-pandemic levels in some regions, airlines and airports have learned from the congestion and disruptions of the past two years,” SITA CEO, David Lavorel, said.
Spirit AeroSystems has reported a net loss of US$633 million for the 12 months to December 31, compared with a net loss of US$546 million in the previous year. “Speaking on behalf of everyone at Spirit, the quality and safety of the products we produce is paramount above all,” Spirit AeroSystems CEO, Pat Shanahan, said. “Over the past month, we have been working shoulder to shoulder with our customers in a series of actions to strengthen our systems and processes to accelerate the improvement of our operations.”
