China Southern Airlines and Lufthansa Technik have signed an exclusive eight-year contract for technical support of the carrier’s auxiliary power units (APUs) aboard its A350s. Lufthansa Technik will deliver MRO on the Honeywell HGT1700s at the company’s specialized APU workshop in Germany’s Hamburg.
Heston MRO has strengthened its product offering with the acquisition of Aviation NDT Services, a Melbourne-based company specializing in Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) for the aviation sector.
Hainan Airlines is offering passengers on some routes Rokid AR glasses as part of its IFE package. Chinese start-up Rokid said it is the first time AR glasses, which allow computer-generated images to be superimposed on the real world, have been used at scale on flights. Passengers can watch 3D movies, read e-books and play simple games using the glasses rather than view their IFE on in-seat monitors.
