Air New Zealand has launched a trial using hydrogen to charge its electric tugs and service vehicles in partnership with Hiringa Energy, Toyota New Zealand and Wellington Airport. The trial commenced on March 4 and will conclude on March 15. It is the first time hydrogen has been used at a New Zealand airport. Wellington Airport CEO, Matt Clarke, said “the trial will help us assess the viability of hydrogen for charging and give us good insight into the operational challenges and opportunities”.
American Airlines (AA) has ordered 90 Embraer E175s with purchase rights for another 43 of the type; 85 more A321neos that will lift its order book with Airbus for the type to 219; and 85 737 MAX 10s plus options for 75 of the type from Boeing. AA also converted orders for 30 737 MAX 8s to the larger 737 MAX 10. “These orders will continue to fuel our fleet with newer, more efficient aircraft so we can continue to deliver the best network and record-setting operational reliability for our customers,” AA CEO, Robert Isom, said.
