Air Canada lands in Singapore

Air Canada's Vancouver-Singapore route, its longest flight by distance in its network, commenced operations last week. Read More » Inaugural AC19, operated by 787-9 registration C-GYJW, touched down at Changi Airport a little after 0700 local time on April 4, 16 hours and 15 minutes after take-off from Vancouver. Following two hours on the ground, the aircraft departed as the reciprocal AC20 for Canada. “These new Singapore flights are part of our strategic expansion at Vancouver Airport, which together with an efficient and seamless in-transit connection process, further positions the airport as the preferred North American gateway to Asia,” Air Canada executive vice president for revenue and network planning, Mark Galardo, said. “Singapore is an important gateway to beyond destinations. Customers have a multitude of connection options to Southeast Asia, India and Western Australia with our longstanding codeshare and Star Alliance partner, Singapore Airlines.” The Star Alliance member is operating the service four times a week with the 787-9s flying the route fitted with 30 business, 21 premium economy and 247 economy seats. Air Canada is the only airline flying nonstop between Singapore and Canada.
