Air India to send A320 pilots to Vistara to redress shortfall

Tata Group-owned Air India (AI) is planning to transfer several first officers licensed to operate A320 family planes to Vistara as the group grapples with unhappy cockpit crew, reports The Economic Times quoting multiple unofficial sources. Read More » Around 30 pilots will move to Vistara “on deputation and subject to regulatory approval”. Twenty four Air India 787 pilots, 16 commanders and eight first officers, already are on deputation to Vistara the newspaper’s source said. Recently Vistara has reduced its daily operational capacity by 10%, or 25-30 flights, due to cockpit crew gaps caused by pilot dissatisfaction with pay and working conditions. Separately, AI will commence Delhi-Ho Chi Minh City on June 1, flying the route five times a week with A320neo. The service will allow one-stop connections via Delhi for travelers from the U.S, Canada, UK and Europe, the airline said.
