Read More » Close in Haneda ranked fifth with 78.7 million passengers processed in the year. It has climbed 11 places from a year earlier as a result of a 55.1% increase in the air passengers it processed. New Delhi Airport, the second airport in the region in the top 10 rankings slipped one spot to 10th with its throughput of 72.2 million passengers for the year. “Global air travel in 2023 was chiefly fuelled by the international segment and propelled by several factors,” ACI World director general, Luis Felipe de Oliveira, said. “Among them were the anticipated benefits from China’s reopening and a growing inclination to travel despite macro-economic conditions.” Hong Kong International Airport was the world's busiest cargo airport by metric tonnes in 2023, the 13th year in the last 14 years it has topped the cargo table. “Air cargo is a key driver of the growth of Hong Kong’s logistics industry and overall economic development,” Airport Authority Hong Kong chair, Jack So, said. Three other Asia-Pacific airports made the top 10 cargo list: Shanghai Pudong (3), Seoul Incheon (5) and Taipei Taoyuan (10).
