Emirates Airline president concedes the carrier’s response “has been far from perfect” after severe flooding paralysed its network operations

Emirates Airline president, Sir Tim Clark, has written an open letter to passengers apologising for schedule disruptions and cancellations caused by severe storms and flooding that brought the global airline to a near standstill. Read More » On April 16, the storms in the UAE that broke all records for their intensity forced the airline to cancel 400 flights and delay or divert much of its route rotations out of Dubai. Emirates had to suspend check-in for departing passengers, temporarily pause ticket sales and halt connecting passenger traffic. Flight schedules were restored on April 20. “I would like to offer our most sincere apologies to every customer who has had travel plans disrupted during this time,” Sir Tim said. “We know our response has been far from perfect. We acknowledge and understand the frustration of our customers due to the congestion, lack of information and confusion in the terminals. We acknowledge the long queues and wait times have been unacceptable. We take our commitment to our customers very seriously and we have taken learning from the last few days to make things right and improve our processes.”
