STARLUX Airlines to lease six more Airbus A321neo

The board of directors of STARLUX Airlines decided on Tuesday to authorize leasing of six additional Airbus A321neo aircraft. Read More » The decision will allow the Taiwan-based carrier to expand its network, and to meet strong travel demand. STARLUX also announced its original leasing contract for eight Airbus A330-900 aircraft will be adjusted to five planes due to delivery delays. STARLUX’s spokesman Nieh Kuo-wei told Taiwan’s Business Times the new aircraft will be used to open destinations in second-tier cities of Japan, new routes to South-East Asia, and to operate the airline’s second base in Taichung in Central Taiwan. For this summer STARLUX plans to commence charter operations to Phu Quoc Island in May, increase flights frequency on the Taipei-Bangkok route to two flights a day starting from June, and officially launch the Taipei-Hong Kong route tentatively scheduled to have two flights per day in July. On August 16 the carrier will inaugurate the Taipei-Seattle route.
