Asia-Pacific airlines book 32% increase in international passengers

Read More » Capacity, measured by available seat kilometres, was higher by 30.4% year-on-year and passenger load factor rose 2.1 percentage points to 81.6%, the Association of Asia Pacific Airlines (AAPA) said. “Improving economic sentiment coupled with high demand on major routes connecting Asia and other regions drove growth in long-haul travel. Demand within the region remained buoyant, underpinned by eased visa policies and resilient expansion in the region’s economies,” AAPA director general, Subhas Menon, said. Positive business and consumer confidence were offset by supply chain constraints, Menon said. Geopolitical tensions continued to cloud the outlook, he added. The AAPA passenger data for the month represented 87.9% of the 31.9 million passengers Asia-Pacific airlines transported in pre-COVID April 2019.
