Singapore Airlines (SIA) said passenger load factors on its schedules to East Asia have reduced as a result of increased flying into the region. Read More » Passenger load factor on SIA's East Asia network declined to 76.9% in July from 82.2% a year ago. In its monthly traffic update, the Star Alliance member reported lower load factors for all five of the geographical regions it services. East Asia recorded the second largest drop in load factor behind West Asia and Africa, the airline said. “SIA experienced lower load factors for the East Asia route region notwithstanding robust growth in passenger traffic, due to the substantial capacity expansion in North Asia,” the airline said. In contrast with falling load factors, SIA said passenger numbers were 10.5% higher, at 2.1 million, for July compared with the 1.9 million travellers it flew a year ago. Capacity was 11.8% higher year-on-year, SIA added.
