Singapore Airlines reports capacity growth for August outpaced demand

Singapore Airlines (SIA) passengers increased 9.4%, to 3.3 million, in August against three million air travellers a year ago. Read More » Capacity, or available seat kilometres (ASK), was higher by 10.8% and revenue passenger kilometres (RPK) improved 7.7%. As a consequence of capacity outpacing the passenger traffic increase, the airline group – Singapore Airlines and Scoot – said passenger load factor slipped 2.5 percentage points, to 85.7%, for the 31 days. Cargo loads rose by 20.9% year-on-year “on the back of sustained strength in e-commerce flows and some demand spill over from disruptions to sea freight”, SIA said.
