The airline’s president, Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, cited Thailand’s economic and political recovery, the lower oil price, and business strategy maintenance for the results. “In addition, the Department of Civil Aviation of Thailand granted Koh Samui Airport an increase in flight operating allowances to 50 flights a day. That meant we could increase frequency on the Samui-Singapore route from seven to 10 flights per week, and the Samui-Kuala Lumpur route from seven to 11 flights per week,” he said.
Last week, national carrier, Thai Airways International (THAI), and its budget subsidiary, Nok Air, reported first-quarter profit surges to 4.54 billion baht ($139 million) and 55.6 million baht ($1.66 million), respectively.
