Hong Kong to debut the three-runway system next month

The Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong (HKSAR) has announced Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) will inaugurate its three-runway system in November. Read More » Transport and Logistics Bureau officials said eight airlines will launch 11 routes under a subsidy scheme managed by Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) after the November opening. The new 3.8km long runway is the linchpin of AAHK’s HK$141.5 billion (US$18 billion) infrastructure development program. Other projects planned for the airport precinct are a second terminal and a new concourse. When completed, the 650 hectare project will increase the airport’s capacity by 50%, accommodating 120 million passengers and 10 million tonnes of cargo a year.
