British Airways Kuala Lumpur launch cancelled due to late deliveries of engines and parts

British Airways (BA) has dropped plans to start nonstop London Heathrow-Kuala Lumpur less than a month before the service was to commence. Read More » The oneworld alliance member said Rolls-Royce delays in delivering its Trent 1000 engines to the airline, as well as components from the engine maker used on BA’s 787s, were the reasons for the cancellation. The airline is seeking reassurance from Rolls-Royce that it will be provided with a prompt and reliable solution to the issue. BA's London Heathrow-Kuala Lumpur rotation was to be a four-class 787-9 service scheduled to operate from November 10. Malaysia Airlines, also a oneworld alliance member, serves the route double daily. Most passengers impacted by the cancellation had been offered an alternative flight on the same day with the airline or a partner airline, BA said.
