Airbus debates A320 ramp up to 60 a month

At the annual Airbus “Innovation Days’ last week, the company’s president and chief executive officer, Fabrice Bregier, told the global media gathering the Toulouse-based manufacturer was considering increasing the production of its bestseller, the A320, to 60 a month. Read More » Earlier this year, Airbus said it would build its current output of the single aisle airliner from 42 a month to 50 a month from early 2017. At the Innovation Days presentation, chief operating officer, Tom Williams, said Airbus could start building about 60 single aisle planes a month by 2018. Ever bullish Airbus chief operating officer customs, John Leahy, said: “I, for one, am looking for a rate of over 60” and said building 63 A320s a month was clearly justified by market conditions. By 2018, Airbus will mostly be constructing A320neos.
