CODESHARES: China Eastern Airlines and Alitalia have tweaked their codeshare partnership with the latter adding its ‘AZ’ designator to China Eastern’s services from Shanghai to Beijing, Chengdu, Qingdao and Shenyang. Air New Zealand will place its ‘NZ’ code on 33 ex-Houston routes operated by United Airlines from December 15, coinciding with its Auckland-Houston launch. Read More » S7 Airlines will add its ‘S7’ code to Qatar Airways’ Bangkok, Hanoi, Male, Melbourne and Singapore services (all ex-Doha) starting June 8. Vietnam Airlines and Jetstar Pacific have started a new codeshare partnership whereby the Vietnamese flag carrier added its ‘VN’ code to 21 domestic Jetstar Pacific services.

MANUFACTURERS: Airbus has launched a long-term partnership program, the Sustainable Aviation Engagement Program (SAEP), designed to help airlines reduce their environmental footprint in four main areas: aircraft technology, aircraft operations, air traffic management and sustainable aviation fuels. Pratt & Whitney will provide data management service for the Bombardier CSeries’ Aircraft Health Management System.

ROUTES: Air Arabia will add a thrice-weekly Sharjah-Quetta A320 rotation starting June 17. Malaysia’s AirAsia will launch a daily Kuala Lumpur-Dhaka A320 service from June 29. Air China has opened reservations for the thrice-weekly Beijing-Montreal B777-300ER operation slated to begin September 29, and it will add a twice-weekly Tianjin-Okinawa B737-800 service from July 18. Asiana Airlines will increase frequency on the Cheongju-Beijing A321 route from twice- to five-weekly starting June 2, and from July 11 through to August 29, it will offer a twice-weekly Incheon-Hailar charter, also using the A321. China Airlines will retain thrice-weekly Taipei-Vienna A340-300 operations during the winter schedule starting October 25. China Eastern Airlines will launch a twice-weekly Fuzhou-Okinawa A321 service from July 1, and it will replace the A330-200 with the B777-300ER on the daily Shanghai-San Francisco route starting December 12. Emirates Airline will launch a daily Dubai-Bologna B777-300ER operation beginning November 3. Iran Air has added a weekly Mashad-Karachi A320 service. Lufthansa will replace the B747-8 with the A380 on its daily Hong Kong-Frankfurt service from October 24. Kuwait Airways has delayed its A330 inaugurals to Rome and Paris to June 15. NokScoot has postponed the launch of its thrice-weekly Don Mueang-Nanjing B777-200ER operation by a week to June 11. Tigerair Taiwan will launch a daily Taipei-Osaka A320 service beginning July 3. United Airlines has postponed the launch of its second daily Shanghai-San Francisco service to September 1.
