Australia is to operate Open Skies with Canada and Malaysia after agreement was reached this week that airlines from the two countries will have unrestricted rights to fly air passenger services to Australia from 2026. Read More » Similarly, Australian airlines will have unrestricted air passenger capacity to Canada and Malaysia from the same date. Also, Australia and Hong Kong will expand their air services agreement to 84 flights a week - to Brisbane, Melbourne, Perth and Sydney - from 70 flights weekly at present. “We are expanding our international aviation network to increase competition and deliver a better experience for Australian travellers,” Australia’s minister for infrastructure, transport, regional development and local government, Catherine King, said. “Whether travelling to these countries or using them as stepping stones to the rest of the world, each of these arrangements represents a stronger connection with our global market for travel, trade and tourism.”
