Read More » In late September, STARLUX, Taiwan’s newest full-service carrier, announced female employees could select either skirts or trousers when they renewed their allotted uniforms, Taiwan’s Central News Agency (CNA) reports. The revised dress code for female airline staff follows a July National Human Rights Commission of Taiwan (NHRC) report that ruled the dress codes of Taiwan’s airlines violated the gender discrimination provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). The NHRC urged airlines to take a proactive stance in complying with CEDAW principles and introduce a trousers-based uniform option for female cabin crew.
