Australia’s airports record throughput of 13.2 million passengers in August

Data published this week said 13.2 million passengers were processed through Australia’s airports in August, a 3.4% increase over the same month last year. Read More » The Australian Government Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) said 9.9 million passengers, 1.5% higher than a year ago, travelled on domestic and regional airlines in the month and 3.4 million passengers, 9.2% more than August 2023, flew with international carriers. The country’s busiest airports for the reported 31 days were Sydney with 3.4 million passengers (3.5% better than in 2023), and Melbourne with 2.9 million passengers, a 2.5% improvement from a year ago. Perth delivered the biggest increase in year-on-year traffic growth of 11.1%, or 1.1 million passengers in the 31 days.
