Virgin Australia and Air New Zealand commence new code-share agreement

Virgin Australia (VA) and Air New Zealand (AirNZ) are code-sharing under a new agreement to be in place from December 9. Read More » From that date, passengers can book VA flights operated by AirNZ with a VA flight number to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. The code-shares are in addition to VA’s existing service to Queenstown. VA guests and Velocity Frequent Flyer members also are eligible for benefits and rewards when booking and traveling on the code-share routes. “The connection between Australia and New Zealand has always been deeper than just a stretch of ocean and our new partnership with Air New Zealand celebrates that enduring bond,” VA chief strategy and transformation officer, Alistair Hartley, said. “From today, we are excited to extend a big Kia Ora to Virgin Australia customers and deliver our signature Kiwi hospitality, giving them a taste of Aotearoa (New Zealand) at 30,000 feet,” AirNZ general manager Australia, Kathryn O’Brien, said.
