Greater Bay Airlines cancels flights citing delivery delays; shutters Hong Kong-Seoul

Greater Bay Airlines (GBA) has announced delays in the delivery of new aircraft and the need for regular inspections of some of its existing fleet have resulted in the cancellation of 128 flights (64 round trips) impacting approximately 5,500 passengers. Read More » Its flights for next week’s Lunar New Year holiday are not affected, GBA said. “We have proactively contacted our passengers to assist them with flight protection, ticket rebooking/refunding (all associated fees will be waived) or compensation for losses incurred by the flight cancellations on an individual basis to minimise the possible impact on their travel plans. An internal review had identified “negligence in our flight scheduling process”, GBA said. “We also have taken immediate action to tighten the relevant approval procedure for flight scheduling,” it added.
Additionally, the airline said “the business performance of our Seoul route is not satisfactory and we have submitted applications to respective authorities in Hong Kong and South Korea for suspension of the service”.
