Air New Zealand to install Starlink connectivity on ATR72-600s

PMV Engineering has developed the necessary modifications for the certification of the Starlink aero terminal on ATR aircraft making it available as a retrofit option on the ATR 72-500 and -600. “We are always looking at innovative technology to deliver improved customer experiences. With the world’s largest satellite constellation, exploring in-motion connectivity on our aircraft with Starlink was a no brainer,” Air New Zealand chief digital officer, Nikhil Ravishankar, said. In addition to passenger benefits, the system will allow pilots to connect to aviation weather services, ATR said.
