Delta Air Lines will introduce a third nonstop route between the U.S. and Australia when it starts flying Los Angeles-Melbourne from next December 3. Read More » The SkyTeam alliance member will operate the route three times a week with A350-900s in a rotation supported by the Victorian state government. “Delta’s flights will help restore capacity to Los Angeles to where it was pre-pandemic. A new carrier across the Pacific also will make it easier for Victorian businesses to connect with a key trading partner,” Melbourne Airport CEO, Lorie Argus, said. Delta’s competitors on the route are United Airlines and Qantas Airways. At present, Delta’s Pacific network is Los Angeles to Brisbane, Sydney, Auckland and Papeete.
