Regulator to clear China’s COMAC jets for flying with Vietnam’s airlines

Read More » If approved, as expected, Vietnam’s airlines will be able to include the Mainland manufacturer’s COMAC jets in their operating fleets. In recent months, COMAC has increased efforts to mark out a presence in Vietnam. “New aircraft like COMAC that are not yet certified by U.S. or European regulators will encounter problems with current legal regulations when seeking to operate in Vietnam,” a Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam (CAAV) document seen by Reuters states. The CAAV also has proposed changing the rules for the importation of Chinese-certified aircraft to Vietnam, effective from April 30, conditional on ratification by the country’s political leadership, The present regulations have delayed the arrival of COMAC C909 regional jets from Chengdu Airlines intended to be leased to Vietjet from last mid-January.
