Hong Kong International Airport passengers increase 17.3% in first two months of year

Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) said 4.5 million passengers travelled through its terminals in February, up 7% from 4.2 million passengers in the same month in 2024. Read More » The start of the Lunar New Year holiday was in January this year but in early February a year ago. “With the effect of the Chinese New Year, the combined figures for the first two months of 2025 show HKIA handled 9.8 million passengers in the 59 days, 17.3% more than in the same peak travel period in 2024,” Airport Authority Hong Kong (AAHK) said. “During this period, transfer/transit passengers rose by 36% and visitors 15%. Traffic to and from Southeast Asia and Japan recorded the most significant increases.” HKIA recorded throughput of 195,000 passengers on February 2, a new daily post-pandemic high, AAHK said.
