Virgin Australia Group has revealed the cabin design of an Embraer 190–E2 scheduled to enter the Virgin Australia Regional Airlines (VARA) fleet in October. Read More » The jet will be configured with Business and Economy classes, a first for Western Australia’s charter market. “We have opted for a dual-class layout, which gives us three product options when you include our extra legroom offering, Economy X. We will have the flexibility to use the aircraft for regular commercial operations on the days of the week when there is less charter demand and leisure traffic is higher,” VARA executive general manager, Nathan Miller, said. “Maintenance training for the new aircraft is underway in Perth,” he said. We will soon commence pilot training at Embraer’s training facility in Singapore as well as cabin crew training. We have commenced recruitment for new pilots and support roles for the E2.” Virgin Australia Group ordered eight E190-E2s last August to replace three Fokker 100s operated by VARA.
