Thai Airways International delivers robust quarterly profit; formally dissolves Thai Smile

Thai Airways International (THAI) booked a net profit of 9.8 billion baht (US$289 million) for the three months to March 31 more than four times the 2.4 billion baht net profit it recorded in the same months in 2024. Read More » Revenue rose 12.3%, to 51.6 billion baht, THAI said in a regulatory filing. “The significant increase in revenue was driven by growth in passenger demand, fleet expansion and increased flight frequency,” THAI said. The airline’s results were boosted by favourable foreign exchange movements. THAI said the Central Bankruptcy Court is scheduled to hold a hearing on June 4 after the airline completed its successful rehabilitation.
Separately, THAI has transferred all flight operations and services of its THAI Smile subsidiary to the parent airline and legally dissolved the regional carrier. “THAI earned profits on the loss-making routes formerly operated by THAI Smile,” the Star Alliance member said.
