Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand (CAAT) plans to mandate the country’s airlines use 1% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) on some international routes by year-end, the Bangkok Post reports. Read More » CAAT director general, ACM Manat Chavanaprayoon, has confirmed the authority is in the final stage of gathering feedback in order to announce a regulation mandating SAF usage by Thailand’s carriers. Manat said it is starting with a 1% mandate for SAF use because the fuel blend is more than three times as expensive as jet A-1 fuel. The 1% usage should not significantly affect airfares and will allow the CAAT to study its impact in the initial phase, he said. The European Union requires airlines to use some SAF fuel at its airports.
