Air France Industries KLM Engineering & Maintenance (AFI KLM E&M) and AerCap are in exclusive negotiations to establish a LEAP engine leasing joint venture. “Building on their existing cooperation around lease engines, AerCap and AFI KLM E&M intend to jointly own and manage a fleet of CFMI LEAP-1A and LEAP-1B engines enabling uninterrupted A320neo and 737 MAX fleet operations while engines are going for a quick-turn or performance restoration shop visit within the AFI KLM E&M MRO network,” a joint statement said.

ATR and Pratt & Whitney have signed a partnership to explore technologies for next generation aircraft to support the development of low emission regional aviation.

Commercial Aircraft Corporation of China (COMAC) has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) with Crane Aerospace & Electronics and Safran for systems and equipment for its in development C929 aircraft. It covers systems for crew oxygen, ice detection, braking control and tire pressure. The MoU with Crane is for the C929 door signal system.

Japan Airlines (JAL), JAL Engineering Co. and Maeve Aerospace are to work together to develop the hybrid electric regional aircraft, MAEVE Jet. “As an island nation, Japan relies heavily on air travel to connect its regions,” JAL senior vice president of corporate planning, Yuji Koyama, said. “It is essential to maintain a sustainable regional network to balance public benefit and business viability. The MAEVE Jet offers a solution that significantly reduces environmental impact while enhancing economic efficiency, aligning well with JAL’s vision of a sustainable and efficient regional network.”

Still with JAL, its engineering wing, JAL Engineering Co., Wisk Aero and Kaga City will collaborate in developing advanced air mobility and autonomous aircraft systems.

Pratt & Whitney has announced ITP Aero is the latest member of its global network of GTF engine maintenance providers. The Madrid-based shop will provide maintenance services for the PW1500G engine on the A220 platform and the PW190G for E2 regional jets.

Additionally, the engine OEM said Wizz Air has chosen the PW1100G-JM Geared Turbofan (GTF) power plant for the 177 A321neo it has on firm order. The LCC previously selected GTF engines for its A320neo family fleet.

Safran Aircraft Engines said three fan blade configurations of its large diameter fan blades made from composite materials have gone through 175 ingestion and endurance tests as well as 300 hours of wind tunnel testing. The large diameter fan blades are in development for the company’s open fan architecture of the CFM rise technology demonstration program.

Vietjet has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Airbus for 100 A321neos. It includes the potential to order 50 more of the type.
