The Airports of Thailand (AOT) board has accepted King Power Duty Free Company’s (KPD) application to enter an extended payment terms scheme to defer some payments under the duty-free concessions it holds for Bangkok Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Don Mueang, Chiang Mai, Hat Yai and Phuket Airports. AOT said in a regulatory filing KPD had to pay 8.444% interest per year for the overdue payments.
In other AOT news, the company will purchase 73 residential units from the country’s Ministry of Finance located within a noise exposure forecast area for Bangkok Suvarnabhumi airport’s third runway construction project.
Cathay Pacific has launched a school-based competition and new online learning platform for schools (and the general public) focused on aviation in partnership with the Hong Kong Youth Aviation Academy to encourage more young people to consider a career in aviation.
Cebu Pacific has renewed its International Air Transport Association Operational Safety Audit (IOSA). The LCC completed its first IOSA registration in 2018.
Embraer has opened a commercial MRO facility at Fort Worth in Texas. The shop is within an existing hangar at Perot Field Alliance Airport where construction on a second hangar is scheduled for completion in 2027.
Hawaiian Airlines has announced a cyber-security incident last week had impacted some of its IT systems. “We continue to safely operate our full flight schedule and guest travel is not impacted,” Hawaiian Airlines said. “As we navigate the ongoing event, we remain in contact with the appropriate experts and federal authorities.”
