Asia-Pacific leads world in air travel growth

Total demand was higher by 5% in the reported month, the International Air Transport Association (IATA) said. International demand was 6.7% better and domestic demand was up 2.1% year-on-year, it said. "Air travel demand expansion was uneven in May," IATA director general, Willie Walsh, said, but added "there is cause for optimism as forward bookings for the peak northern hemisphere summer season show consumer confidence appeared to be strong".
