Bangkok Airways operating Sustainable Aviation Fuel on more commercial flights

It aligns with the goal of achieving Net Zero Carbon Emissions [by 2025], which lies at the heart of sustainability policies in the aviation ," the regional carrier said. In 2024, the airline began using SAF on a pilot flight operating between Samui and Bangkok. Now, SAF also will be used on commercial flights departing Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to Phnom Penh, Siem Reap, Luang Prabang and the Maldives," Bangkok Airways president, Captain Puttipong Prasarttong-Osoth, said. The Bangkok Airways SAF will be a blend of 1% with 99% Jet A-1 fuel, reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an average of 128 kilograms of CO₂ per flight. Introducing SAF is part of the "Low Carbon Skies by Bangkok Airways" campaign.
