Thai Airways International (Thai) may use its options to purchase 35 787s to negotiate tariff levels being imposed on Thailand by U.S. President Trump, THAI CEO, Chai Eamsiri, told Reuters at a NEXT Asia summit. Read More » At the conference, Eamsiri said the airline had no plans to resume direct flights to the U.S. despite the U.S. upgrading Thailand’s air safety rating earlier this year. THAI’s fleet cannot fly such long distances efficiently, he said, and added the U.S. market is a "big risk" in the context of present tariff talks. THAI exited its debt restructuring program last month and intends to resume trading on the Stock Exchange of Thailand in August.
