Dragonair’s CEO, Algernon Yau (57), has been appointed an executive director of Cathay Pacific Airways, with effect from September 7. His appointment follows the resignation of James Barrington, who is now Group Director Air Frame Services at Hong Kong Aircraft Engineering Company Limited (HAECO). Mr. Yau has been chief executive at Dragonair, a wholly owned subsidiary of Cathay Pacific Airways, since July last year.
Etihad adds to its Abu Dhabi executive ranks
Etihad Airways has appointed three United Arab Emirates (UAE) nationals to executive positions. Hareb Al Muhairy will become senior vice-president of corporate and international affairs; Mohammed Al Bulooki joins Etihad from Abu Dhabi Airports Co. to become vice-president of commercial for the UAE; and Haitham Al Subaihi will serve as vice-president of sales for the UAE.
The Abu Dhabi-based carrier last Friday also confirmed the promotion of Sajida Ismail to vice-president service and hospitality, responsible for the development of training standards for all staff working inflight and at airports, lounges and crew training centres. Ismail moves to the new role from her previous position as the airline’s head of product and services standards.
