International air travellers to Australia increased 10.6% in May

Passengers flying in and out of Australia increased to 3.3 million in May from 3 million a year ago. Read More » Qantas Airways topped the market share table with 16.7% of international passengers transported, down 17.2% compared with the same month in 2024, Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) said. Qantas Group LCC, Jetstar Airways, was runner-up for the 31 days with 13.9% of all international passengers carried, an increase from 12.4% a year earlier. Singapore Airlines (SIA) was Australia’s largest foreign carrier by passenger market share in the month, at 9.1%, followed by Air New Zealand (6.4%) and Emirates Airline (6.3%). SIA topped the monthly table for international freight with 17.1% of market ahead of Qantas (9.3%) and Emirates (7.8%).
