Malaysia Airlines and Firefly expand international networks

Malaysia Airlines (MAS) will start daily Kuala Lumpur-Chengdu next January 9. Read More » Chengdu, in the southwest province of Sichuan, is home to the popular giant panda sanctuaries. The rotation will join Kuala Lumpur to Beijing, Guangzhou, Shanghai and Xiamen in the oneworld alliance member’s Mainland network. MAS also flies Kuala Lumpur to Hong Kong and Taipei. Additionally, the Malaysia Aviation Group’s (MAG) regional affiliate, Firefly, will inaugurate three nonstop routes from Kuala Lumpur International Airport: daily to Krabi commencing on November 17, three times a week to Siem Reap from November 27 and five times weekly to Cebu to be launched on December 2. The two MAG airlines also will increase frequency on their existing networks. "With these new routes and expanded frequencies, MAG is strengthening its role as the gateway to Asia and beyond, making it easier for travellers to discover top destinations across the region and further afield," MAG managing director, Datuk Captain Izham Ismail, said.
