Virgin Australia (VA) is offering eligible passengers on select Virgin Australia domestic and short-haul international services to bid to keep the seat next to them free. Read More » The “Neighbour-Free Seating” product was launched after a 2023 consumer survey by Velocity Frequent Flyer revealed 42% of Virgin Australia passengers would consider paying a fee to have the middle seat empty on international flights of more than three hours and that 35% of their air travellers would do the same on domestic flights of more than three hours. “Our priority is to give Virgin Australia guests even more value and choice when they choose to fly with us. Neighbour-Free Seating is a clever add-on for economy travellers who want the certainty of extra space without the price tag,” Virgin Australia’s Libby Minogue, said. Neighbour-Free Seating will launch on selected routes before a wider rollout, VA said.
