Batik Air increases East Malaysia services

Batik Air Malaysia is launching two nonstop routes in Malaysia's two eastern states of Sabah and Sarawak next month amid an increased demand for air travel within the region. Read More » The Lion Air Group carrier will connect state capitals Kota Kinabalu and Kuching with a nonstop flight, as well as an intra-Sabah service between Kota Kinabalu and Sandakan, from December 15. Both routes will be served seven times a week. Looking further ahead, Batik Air Malaysia has also launched a new nonstop Kota Kinabalu-Singapore service to begin on February 12 next year. "We are delighted to introduce these new direct flights, which reflect our commitment to supporting Sabah and Sarawak’s growing travel needs," Batik Air CEO, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, said. "Strengthening connectivity within Borneo is a priority, and Kota Kinabalu, as a regional operating hub in East Malaysia, creates easier access between important destinations while enhancing convenience for our guests." Currently, AirAsia Malaysia is on all three routes from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching, Sandakan and Singapore, while Malaysia Aviation Group carrier, Firefly, flies from Kota Kinabalu to Kuching and Scoot serves Kota Kinabalu from Singapore.
