China Southern Airlines and Virgin Austria sign code-share

China Southern Airlines (CSA) and Virgin Australia (VA) are to code share between Australia and China. Read More » Under the agreement, CSA will place its CZ airline code on VA-operated flights to 17 destinations in Australia, New Zealand and Vanuatu. At present, CSA flies to Adelaide, Brisbane, Darwin, Melbourne, Perth, Sydney and Auckland and Christchurch in New Zealand with some routes operating seasonally. The two airlines also reaffirmed plans to expand the agreement to a bilateral code-share. "We are pleased to join hands with Virgin Australia to efficiently extend China Southern’s network in Oceania," CSA deputy director general of the commercial steering committee, Zhang Dongsheng, said. "Going forward, China Southern and Virgin Australia will explore international cooperation, unlocking more appealing destinations for our passengers." VA chief strategy and transformation officer, Alistair Hartley, said: "This partnership will open up more opportunities for visitors arriving on China Southern’s services to effectively connect across the Virgin Australia network."
