December 11th 2025
India’s minister for civil aviation, Ram Mohan Naidu, has instructed under-fire LCC, IndiGo, to reduce its flight schedule by 10%. Read More » The revised scheduled, announced by the minister on social media on December 10, followed a meeting with IndiGo CEO, Pieter Elbers. It is higher than an earlier order for a 5% reduction in flight schedules. IndiGo has confirmed it had received a notice from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation directing a 10% reduction, representing about 220 flights a day, in its domestic winter schedule. IndiGo cancelled thousands of flights last week as it struggled to adapt rosters to comply with updated pilot duty and rest rules that came into effect in November. Separately, Naidu told local media he was not ruling out disciplinary and legal action against IndiGo management in response to cancellations that have impacted thousands of passengers across the country. IndiGo said yesterday its operations had stabilised.
