Vietnam Airlines posts $58 million profit

National carrier Vietnam Airlines has reported 1.3 trillion dong ($58 million) in profit in the first nine months of the year on 52.5 trillion ($2.36 billion) dong in syndicated revenue. Read More » This compares with a profit of 650 billion dong for the whole of 2014, the Vietnam Economic Times newspaper reported, citing the airline's results.
Apart from facing difficulties including a slide in many currencies and limits on airport capacity, the airline has benefited from a government policy that waived entry visas for five European countries, including France and Germany, helping boost tourist arrivals, the newspaper said.
