January 29th 2026
Jetstar Airways commenced retrofitting of its Boeing 787-8 fleet. Read More » “Our first 787 has departed MEL for HKG for its full cabin glow‑up. Over the next few weeks, she’ll get brand‑new business and economy seats, in-flight Wi‑Fi, and a lie-flat rest area for our crew (which means more international destinations),” the LCC said on LinkedIn. The retrofit program was announced in November 2023. The upgrade includes overhauling the economy and business class cabins with new seating, in-flight connectivity, and lie-flat crew rest areas to fly greater distances. The business class offering will also more than double in response to growing premium demand, increasing from 21 seats to 44. The revamped 787s will not have seatback entertainment screens. Instead, passengers will be able to pay to stream Jetstar’s in-flight entertainment or on their own mobile devices or purchase Wi-Fi connectivity on board.
