Virgin Australia CEO hails airline’s punctuality performance to begin 2026

Read More » Figures from Australia’s Bureau of Infrastructure and Transport Research Economics (BITRE) showed VA had 82% of its domestic flights arrive within 15 minutes of schedule in January, ahead of Qantas on 80.9% and Jetstar on 67.7%. VA’s on-time departures rate of 82.5% was also ahead of Qantas (81.6%) and Jetstar (65.1%). It also led on cancellations, with 0.9% of its flights cancelled in the month, compared with 2.7% at Qantas and 3.2% at Jetstar. "After a strong finish to the year in December, our team raised the bar yet again in January," Emerson said. "We know how important it is to get our guests to their destination on their desired day of travel, and with fewer than 1% of scheduled domestic flights cancelled during one of our busiest months, our results show we are consistently delivering on that commitment."
